WHAT IS THE SOURA KSEB SOLAR SUBSIDY PROJECT?
The Soura KSEB Solar Subsidy Project is an initiative by the Kerala State Electricity Board to
promote solar energy. Households in Kerala who install rooftop solar panels can receive up
to 40% subsidy under this program, and are also likely to see a twofold return on their
investment.
COST ESTIMATION FOR A 3kWp SOLAR ENERGY POWER PLANT
For example, a 3 kWp solar plant installed under this scheme can generate up to 600-720
units in two months, resulting in savings of approximately Rs. 4,500 for the customer
compared to purchasing the same amount of power from KSEB. With an actual cost of
Rs.1,90,500, and a subsidy of Rs. 57,383 from MNRE, the payable amount for the customer
is only Rs. 1,33,117. This means the customer receives the subsidy benefit upfront without
any delays or risks
KSEB ROOFTOP SOLAR SUBSIDY SCHEME 2023-24
With rising electricity rates and the demand for electricity, the KSEB Solar Subsidy Scheme is
a government initiative aimed at promoting the use of natural energy sources to fulfill
electricity needs. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is planning to set up 38 GW of
rooftop solar projects, and the KSEB is providing subsidies for domestic consumers of
electricity.
ELIGIBLE CONSUMERS AND APPLICATION PROCESS
Interested consumers can choose from two government-provided models for installing their
rooftop solar system. However, Kerala has been allotted 50 MW under this scheme, and
once 75,000 applications are received, the program will close. Therefore, it is crucial to act
